So, I can EITHER go streaming only, no DVD’s by mail, for $7.99 a month, which would be fine except that you bastards never actually have half the movies I’d like to see available via streaming,
OR
I can go DVD only, no streaming, for $7.99, which would be fine except that it is only one DVD out at a time and is damn inconvenient,
OR
I can do both – like I’m doing now for $9.99 – for the new and improved price of $15.99 per month?
Really?
Postage has gone up that much in one year, has it? Or maybe you need some new servers to store all that media?
And I have the sneaking suspicion that if I go streaming only, Netflix isn’t going to be in any hurry to fill in the gaps in their streaming catalog, because they figure I’ll get frustrated and bump back up to the $15.99 level.
Alternative plan – I can cancel the whole shebang and tell Netflix to take its little red envelopes and stick them where the sun don’t shine. After all, like they say in their email, there are a lot of places to get your home entertainment these days.

I had the same reaction. You may also have noticed that titles rotate in and out of free streaming. A TV series I had been halfway though on unlimited streaming just disappeared and now I can only get it on DVD, one at a time.
I’ve read a statistic that in the evening about 80% of the net’s traffic is people streaming video.

I thought of re-signing up to Netflix, and then read that they’ve changed to this new thing, so I’ve decided not to. It sounds like a lot of hassle, and my computer can’t handle streaming anything anyway.

I’ve been doing a lot of streaming in the last year, but have been watching on the PC because my tv is 20 years old. The plan was to buy a new tv, completely drop cable tv and go Netflix only when I bought a condo, which will be in the next month or so. Then they pull this crap.
I hate that I can’t get everything I want on streaming. Time to start checking out other services again.

Troglodyte that I am, I find the VHS movies I get at thrifts and yard sales – for maybe a buck a pop – look just fine on my 21″ CRT TV.

I decide that for $16, I might as well just use Hulu and Redbox. (I don’t have cable.)
